In the early days of casino gambling, slot machine players were not considered serious gamblers and never given gifts such as a free room, complimentary tickets to shows and free meals that are commonly offered to table players. But that mindset has changed, as 70 percent of all casinos’ revenue comes from slot machines.
Your Initial Bet
One of the attractions of slot machines is it very simple to play, as slide your money into the machine and then push a button marked “play one credit.” Take a short breath, then hit the spin button or pull the lever down and let the fun begin.
The Difference between Video Slots and Reel-Spinning Machines
The biggest difference between video slots and reel-spinning machines is the number of paylines that can be activated during a spin. Reel-spinning machines are older and have only one single payout line going across the center of the machine. The more sophisticated reel machines will have three or more payout lines. Most video slots payout lines not only run straight across but also run zig zag or in a “V” formation across the screen.
The Payout Amounts
Once the machine is in motion, a row of symbols or numbers will stop on the center payout line to determine if a player has won. Slot machines will incorporate blank spaces, and any combination with symbols or numbers is a losing bet. The payouts can range from two coins up to a jackpot for spinning three sevens straight across the board. Likewise, a seven combined with other symbols is a losing proposition.
